How does Hypnosis help in Childbirth?
Hypnosis is a naturally induced state of relaxed concentration in which positive suggestions are given to the sub-conscious mind. Through daily practice you can achieve a profound state of deep relaxation, still being fully in control and fully awake.
HypnoBirthing focuses on teaching the women how to turn inward and use hypnosis techniques to cope with the discomforts of labor. Both the parents are taught many deep relaxation and visualization techniques that they can use during pregnancy and labor. Partners practice the hypnosis deepening techniques with mom in the classroom and then given scripts for further practice at home. Women are expected to practice the relaxation/hypnosis techniques with their partners for many days to get the best effect. It helps women to completely banish the fear that we are conditioned with.
With repeated hypnosis practice, birth is experienced in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, free of fear and tension. Your body’s natural pain relievers, known as endorphins, replace the stress hormones that create pain. You are fully awake and involved during the baby’s birth. You are aware of the birth process and are able to determine the extent to which you feel the uterine contractions.
